Be Careful on Which Income Streams You Rely

I learned the hard way.

For as long as I’ve been trying to make money online, I’ve heard people warning me not to build my business on rented land.

“Rented land” meaning a platform that we can’t control.

For example: don’t build your membership community in a Facebook group because Facebook could shut your group down at any time…or they could change their algorithm to where your content wouldn’t show up as much for your audience.

There are so many platforms for content creators now: Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Twitch, Threads, Twitter/X, Snapchat (yes, still), but all of those places allow a handful of people to determine your reach and income.

Don’t get me wrong, I love that we have so many options, but I hitched myself to a wagon that maybe I shouldn’t have.
